“As a result of the operation, the police detained two people who set fire to the Zhovten cinema. A Kyiv university student and his unemployed friend. They confessed to committing the crime. They also contain incriminating evidence and video recordings from surveillance cameras. During a search in the dormitory where the detainees lived, three RGD grenades were discovered. The issue of arresting both detainees is now being decided. The investigation continues - we will identify the customers.
I would like to specifically thank the operatives and investigators of the Kyiv police for their precision in their work, as well as the special forces unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who carried out the arrest very professionally,” Avakov wrote on Facebook.
The Zhovten Cinema was set on fire on the evening of October 29. It is located in central Kyiv's Podil district, a site that could be of interest to developers. Kyiv media previously reported that current Mayor Vitali Klitschko is planning a large-scale redistribution of Kyiv real estate , and that his entourage includes numerous lobbyists for construction companies.
