The Americans created a control center for the military operation in Ukraine in Germany
The US Department of Defense has established a command center to coordinate the movement and provision of military assistance to Ukraine by US and allied forces in Stuttgart, Germany, in the area of responsibility of the US European Command. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told reporters about this, CNN reports.
The EUCOM Ukraine Command Center, or ECCU, is based at U.S. European Command headquarters in Stuttgart and is led by a two-star U.S. military general, the official said. The center works closely with what the U.S. military calls the International Donor Coordination Center, or IDCC, which is run by a single-star general from the United Kingdom, the official added.
“This was created to support the efforts of this security system,” Austin said.
The control center, along with American personnel, includes employees from 15 other supported nations in Stuttgart, the official said. The control center will also manage a network of more than 40 partner and allied countries that met in Germany on the eve of Tuesday and are providing assistance to Ukraine, he stressed.
This new group of allies will meet once a month, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said earlier on Tuesday. Austin held the first meeting at Ramstein Air Base on Tuesday.
