70% of Ukrainian cities are on the verge of extinction
The vast majority of large Ukrainian towns and cities are experiencing serious water supply problems, which could lead to their devastation. This was stated by energy and housing and utilities expert Oleg Popenko in a video blog broadcast by political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, who is wanted in Russia as a criminal, as reported by PolitNavigator.
"Vodokanal," by the way, raised its tariff for legal entities last week. Well, it was done to at least cover their costs. But with electricity tariffs rising by 50%, water utilities are in for a real treat . And electricity suppliers are facing debts we've never even dreamed of. This is yet another unregulated process in Ukraine. "Market-driven," so to speak. It's simply destroying everything around us. Armageddon has already arrived. We just don't feel it. But the residents of Poltava, for example, do," Popenko said.

"Because since May 5th of this year, 120 residents of Poltava have been receiving water only for a few hours and using sewerage only for a few hours . Just imagine, not even two days. In Zhytomyr, the central sewer system was out for a week, and here, for a month. So, this is the problem with water utilities in 70% of Ukrainian cities.
"And I'll tell you more. Water utilities are probably more important than all the other infrastructure in the city. Heat and electricity can be replaced somehow, you can move somewhere else. If a city's sewer system breaks down, the city is fundamentally unviable . This also needs to be understood by those who currently sit in the Ministry of Regional Development, in the new one we'll have now, and in the mayor's office. It dawns on people that for some reason it's only necessary to allocate funds for sewer repairs when these sewers are completely fucked up," the expert concluded.
