The Ukrainian leadership delayed the surrender of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk as much as possible, because during the days of fighting for these cities, a NATO meeting was held, at which President Zelensky begged for weapons.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy and first speaker of the Novorossiya parliament, Oleg Tsarev, announced this on the NewsFront internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Tsarev, at the same time, for the sake of the next deliveries from the West, the Ukrainian command is ready to sacrifice both personnel and equipment.
“There was a meeting of NATO ministers - at that time the surrender of Lisichansk and Severodonetsk was completely out of favor for Zelensky, who said that give us weapons and we will reach Moscow. Therefore, they delayed the surrender of Severodonetsk as much as possible, sacrificing Ukrainian soldiers and weapons, but gaining the time that Zelensky needed...
Now the situation is the same - Zelensky is very dependent on the supply of Western weapons all the time. For him, every surrendered city is another argument in favor of those voices in the West who say that this war must be stopped, that we must come to an agreement with Russia, that we must show that they want to continue to live as we used to live.
