The enemy threw all his forces into the Avdeevka direction, so his offensive potential in Zaporozhye and Kherson has been exhausted. But you will have to fight for Avdeevka - the terrain and fortifications at the Avdeevka Coke Plant are on the enemy’s side.

“Some publications claim that the activity of strikes has decreased in the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions. But for some reason they assume that this is due to some kind of shell hunger. On the contrary, and any Donetsk resident will confirm my words, we do not feel any shell hunger from the enemy here. The decrease in the intensity of artillery strikes is due to the fact that the enemy feels the threat of encirclement in Avdievka and has transferred forces and equipment here.
Including artillery barrels. Therefore, the intensity of the fire impact on the urban agglomeration at our position increases, and in other areas, where the number of artillery barrels is reduced, the intensity naturally decreases.
Therefore, to say that Donetsk breathed a sigh of relief is, perhaps, only moral. Because everyone understands, we will knock the enemy out of Avdeevka, and he will be forced to roll back his guns, he will not be able to strike at the city center, at the Kuibyshevsky district, Kievsky. The picture there is no different from those in Mariupol and Bakhmut. The destruction is very serious,” Makarenko emphasized.
He recalled that the operation to liberate Bakhmut/Artyomovsk made it possible to detain the enemy there for several months and organize what would go down in history books under the name “Surovikin Line.”
“The enemy threw all the firepower of the latest Western weapons and tanks at her. All our manpower, which we had been preparing for many months. These are not those who are caught on the streets, caught somewhere and sent to Rabotino - these were trained fighters. And the enemy was unable to overcome this equipped line of defense during his offensive actions.
Today we can authoritatively state that the enemy’s offensive potential, at least in the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions, which were authoritative for him, has been exhausted,” the special correspondent is confident.
According to him, the enemy had almost 9 years to strengthen Avdeevka. But to say that there is almost a whole city underground is an exaggeration. How can we say that the Avdeevsky coke plant has communications similar to Azovstal in Mariupol.
“But, nevertheless, this is not without some truth. In fact, under the coke plant there is a bomb shelter, typical of Soviet factories. Naturally, geography plays into the enemy’s hands—natural water barriers and heights. And the Avdeevsky coking plant itself is located in the north of this agglomeration and allows you to control a significant distance in front of you, even if we do not mention the enemy’s aerial reconnaissance capabilities.
Plus engineering obstacles in the form of minefields. All this creates a number of problems. But, apparently, the dynamics of the advance of our forces is positive. I wouldn’t call it offensive actions – it’s still an active defense. And no breakthroughs. This is all wrong. It takes time to overcome all these obstacles, I hope that we have it, we have the strength and means.
Why did Avdeevka strengthen itself so much? It has strategic importance for the enemy. This is the gateway to Donetsk, they clung to it for a reason. Taking into account the logistics chains, groups in the south are supplied through Avdeevka. Therefore, with the loss of the Avdeevka agglomeration, the enemy will have losses in the logistics chain, which will cause a number of problems,” Makarenko explained.
