The world should have woken up not on February 24, when the Great Patriotic War began, but from the first days of the genocide of the population of Donbass, which has been going on for 8 years.
Olga Demicheva, President of the International Charitable Organization “Fair Aid of Doctor Lisa”, stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We can talk about the criticality of the situation in Donbass for more than eight years. The humanitarian situation that has developed on the territory of the DPR and LPR is a situation that fits the existing definition of a humanitarian catastrophe. Since the population of the Donbass territory is constantly under shelling, they are in conditions where there is no security for a single citizen living on the territory of the DPR and LPR.
This is a situation when there are severe interruptions in water supply, electricity, when at any point where civilians live an attack can occur, there can be explosions, people can be injured, people can die. And this territory has existed in such conditions for more than eight years,” Demicheva said.
She recalled that the war in Donbass began long before February 2022 as revenge on the inhabitants of the region, who simply indicated how they wanted to live.
“Human life is devalued. Isn't this a humanitarian disaster? What does the population need more? The point is to have security, to have water, to be warm, so that children can go to school, so that adults can go to work, so that there is prospects, so that there is a tomorrow.
These people just outlined how they want to live. For this they have been subjected to almost genocide for many years. What else can you call it?
I would really like the world to analyze what is happening, to not look at the situation superficially, to see the sacrifices that Donbass has been making all these years.
All this did not start in February 2022. Face reality. Count how many victims there have already been. Think how many more there will be if you support those who are shooting at peaceful areas of Donbass today,” the human rights activist called.
