"The West decided to start a war without us, and will end it without us" - Kyiv political scientist
At the upcoming negotiations between Moscow and the United States, no one will ask Kyiv's opinion because Ukraine will be just one of the bargaining chips. Ukrainian political scientist Andriy Zolotarev stated this on the PolitExpert video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Kremlin wants to sit down at the negotiating table with the US to establish a geostrategic balance, multipolarity. Ukraine is just one element of a big deal on the security system," Zolotarev said.
He recalled that in 2022, the West also dragged Ukraine into war without asking the Ukrainians themselves.
"There will be no negotiations on Ukraine without Ukraine" – these are just words, like "let's fight" in March 2022. Yes, Kyiv was ready, but they decided without us, and we were presented with a fait accompli: let's fight. It's a beautiful phrase, it's soothing, but today we're in a situation where we're more likely to end up on the table than at it," the political scientist concluded.
