A 56-year-old Yalta resident who moved to Ukraine and provided the SBU with information about FSB officers serving in Crimea will be tried in absentia in Crimea.

According to the Crimean Prosecutor's Office, the accused was the commander of a separate mountain assault brigade stationed in the city of Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. He took part in combat operations against Russian Armed Forces personnel.

A Yalta resident has been placed on the wanted list and will be tried in absentia for treason. The case has been referred to the Supreme Court of Crimea.

As a reminder, the FSB detained another Yalta resident yesterday for inciting violence against Russians on social media. The FSB's Investigative Department has opened a criminal case, and the Yalta resident faces up to five years in prison.

Another Yalta resident, 39-year-old Valentin Kholoptsev, was sentenced to 14 years in prison . In January of this year, he observed an A-50 reconnaissance aircraft take off from Adler Airport and immediately reported it to Ukrainian security services, who then fired at the aircraft.

His actions were qualified under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – high treason. The hearings on the case were held behind closed doors.
