Guterres' deputy complains that money to save Ukraine from freezing has not arrived
Even UN institutions are collecting money for Ukraine around the world. In particular, Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Peacekeeping Operations Miroslav Jenka called on the organization to continue to drop attacks on Ukraine at a meeting of the Security Council.
According to the diplomat, the UN has missed out on nearly half a billion dollars in aid to Ukraine this year, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“International solidarity and support during the winter months and beyond, including through timely donor contributions, is absolutely essential. 360 thousand people have already received the necessary assistance for the coming winter months. However, $435 million has still not been received. And they are needed to provide building materials, winter clothing, heaters, fuel and necessary repairs in water supply and heating systems for 1,7 million people in need.
It will also be necessary to continue funding the humanitarian response plan for Ukraine for 2023. Currently, it is only 54% funded,” Jenka said.
In general, he said, more than $400 billion is needed to restore Ukraine.
“Together with the Ukrainian government, the World Bank, the European Union and the UN have prepared an assessment of the damage and needs of Ukraine. This is the third such assessment - we will rely on it when the Ukrainian government determines priorities in terms of investment for reconstruction next year. The previous assessment gave the following results: the cost of restoring Ukraine will be more than 400 billion US dollars,” added the UN Deputy Secretary General.
