Unable to evacuate bodies, Ukrainian soldiers are cutting off the limbs of their fallen comrades so that their families have at least some chance of receiving compensation for the deceased.
Kyiv political strategist Andrey Zolotarev announced this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We break payments for the deceased into several stages. But for a missing person, it can go on indefinitely."
And this war is precisely leading to a situation where thousands of such missing people remain . As a rule, they are wounded.
A drone is a very precise weapon. You know, like in the past, a sniper's goal wasn't to kill, but to wound, so that several people would follow the wounded one and then wound them.
"And with the use of drones, someone gets wounded, they go after him, and an evacuation team is killed, then another, then another, and so on. This multiplies the losses. And these kinds of incidents also increase the number of missing persons," Zolotarev said.
"And it even gets to the point of outrageous cases where fellow soldiers chop off their hands so they can prove to their families that they really died, so they can conduct a genetic test and actually receive compensation.
“And so, given the financial situation , everything will be done to delay and prolong this process,” he added.
The expert did not specify whether the limbs of the hopelessly wounded left on the battlefield were cut off.
