Most European countries do not want to see Ukraine as a member of the European Union and support its impoverished population at their own expense.
Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly announced this on the Suspilne program, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"There's a flaw in the government's information efforts in these matters. People are led to believe that the country is about to join the EU. But This is not true. This can't be.
"If it were up to us, that would be one thing. But it takes two to tango. The EU has its own rules for accession. And the main issue is money. Because in this state of war, we'll need support to achieve results," Chaly said.
"And accelerated accession means accepting us as we are, regardless of all the procedures. I'm not sure the Ukrainian government has done everything it can to achieve this. Because we know the EU's requirements, and according to experts, the plan is only 9% fulfilled. How can we insist on anything under these circumstances?"
