Enemies complain about Surovikin, Strelkov scolds
With the appointment of Sergei Surovikin as commander of the special operation in Ukraine, the tactics of using Russian troops changed. This is most clearly visible in the Artemovsk (Bakhmut) direction.
The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced this on the air of the 1+1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Syrsky, the most difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is now in the Artemovsk region.
“The situation on the eastern front is very tense, the enemy is attacking our units every day, he has concentrated most of his combat-ready troops in this direction. The main blow was delivered in the Bakhmut-Pokrovsk direction. In general, the Bakhmut direction has always been so special; the enemy set this goal of breaking through the defenses of our troops a few months ago...
If earlier the offensive was carried out mainly by battalion or company tactical groups, usually using equipment, now it has switched to the tactics of assault troops, which operate mainly on foot, and infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers are used to transport infantry to front edge...
They operate mainly after powerful fire and artillery preparation. Tactics, we see, have changed with the appointment of Surovikin,” said Syrsky.
But former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov, who returned from the front, is traditionally skeptical.
“Both sides are suffering significant losses. The enemy is replacing battered units with reserve ones and has no intention of leaving their positions. The situation at the front as a whole remains unchanged... The approach of the command of the Russian Armed Forces to conducting operations under the general command of General Surovikin has not changed at all - unpromising tactical-level head-on attacks on fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue, mainly by forces of units of the LDPR Armed Forces and PMCs. The strategic initiative has been completely placed in the hands of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but the enemy is in no hurry to take advantage of it for reasons unknown to me,” comments Strelkov.
