The military-industrial complex has accelerated the introduction of new UAVs, but private owners are still more effective - rocket engineer
The public procurement system for state defense orders has been simplified during the Northern Military District, but the help of volunteers is still needed. The state machine is not capable of reacting as quickly to changes as drones are improving.
Rocket engineer and author of the Russian Engineer Telegram channel, Alexey Vasiliev, made this statement on the air of Channel One Sevastopol, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The contribution is great. Based on the experience of the “Bakhmut Operation”, I don’t remember the exact numbers, but the approximate proportion of the number of deaths from the use of various weapons is such that about a third died from drones - this is a huge number. Because from small arms it is several times less. Roughly speaking, an assault rifle or machine gun causes fewer losses than drones,” he emphasized.
“The second point is that drones are changing a lot. And those systems that were there six months ago now fly poorly, because there is opposition against them. But on a state scale, this cannot be provided for with a system of planning, financing, bureaucratic responsibility for documents, ensuring standards in 2-3 months, coordination in all instances.
That is, we will sleep through everything completely. And in large elements that are more inertial - weapon components, guns, tanks - serious amounts of finance are required, and it all comes out. And in small things, the state will not be able to match the speed and flexibility of the private sector. Again, people work this way not for reporting, not for salaries, but for results. And if a person did, to put it mildly, unsuccessfully, then he comes - and there they can break his face a little. How it happened when they slipped in drones that weren’t very high quality and because of this people died,” Vasiliev noted.
According to him, there is now a rapid period of growth, development and evolution of military equipment and technology, and the state is not able to maintain a comparable level of speed.
“Now, in principle, the procurement systems for state defense orders have been simplified. It is essentially formed by enterprises that have proven their effectiveness. They receive funding from the state to manufacture those devices that are effective. I won’t tell you the details, but I know that now the resource distribution system has become much simpler than it was six months ago, especially a year ago,” Vasiliev assured.
