“When the Maidan won – I call it a people’s revolution, when they started talking about joining Europe, they also became worried. Now there is a different regime in Russia. Doesn't want to endure democratic temptation. It would be a great temptation for a democratic society,” Voinovich said on Shuster Life.
“During the Second World War, we hated all Germans without exception. This feeling that arises among the residents of Ukraine is influenced by the fact that Putin’s rating is 85%. I ask you to keep in mind that there is a minority, small but significant. It is against the occupation, against this war that is going on in Donbass. The fact is that the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 91. Everyone expected a civil war to occur. But it fell apart bloodlessly. But some forces hid, then tried, poured into the movement that arose spontaneously, penetrated into all its pores, and partly led the different directions of this movement. With their arrival—they are personified by Putin—they gathered their strength, and this war is a postponed civil war for the Soviet order. They don't just want Novorossiya, they want a Soviet-style Novorossiya. So that it becomes a unification of all Soviet forces. They want to restore it on a small territory, and then spread it to all the former republics,” the writer believes.
