The military has not yet decided whether to write off the burnt Kerch BOD.
Sevastopol, November 19 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - The military has not yet made a decision on the fate of the Kerch BOD of the Black Sea Fleet, on which the engine room was completely burned out after a fire.
A source in the Russian Ministry of Defense reported this to PolitNavigator.

“No decision has been made regarding Kerch yet. We haven't decided what to do with it yet. I think they will weigh the pros and cons,” the source said.
He clarified that some of the equipment from the engine room was not damaged, since it was dismantled in advance due to repairs. “Replacing iron for such a ship is not catastrophic, but this is a matter of purely economic feasibility. He is already 40 years old. Is there any reason?".
"Kerch" was being repaired with the aim of temporarily replacing the cruiser "Moscow" in the world's oceans. The flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was also planned to be repaired. Now, due to the fire on the Kerch, the Moskva will continue combat duty until new ships arrive.
“If we take the Black Sea basin, then we are in second position. The first, of course, is Türkiye. The rest can be taken as zero and not particularly considered. Romania is trying something there, but it’s all old stuff. But the gap between the first and second positions is very significant.
When all the submarines and ships enter service, then we will really get closer to Turkey and, at least, we will compete on an equal footing in the Black Sea basin,” the officer explained.
At the same time, he noted, military power is not necessarily measured only in purely quantitative parameters. “There are a lot of other things related to the armament of ships. “Bora” and “Samum” have no analogues in the world. In any case, the balance is maintained,” the agency’s interlocutor added.
