Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko, acting head of the LPR People's Militia Department, reported this information during a briefing, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Due to the outbreak of measles on the territory of Ukraine, as well as the lack of adequate medical care for military personnel in units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces located in the ATO zone, cases of pneumonia and measles have become more frequent,” Filiponenko stated.
“According to the LM of the LPR, in the units of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine, 10 cases of measles and eight of pneumonia have already been registered,” he added.
In addition, the colonel added that “14 soldiers of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are undergoing treatment with similar diagnoses.”
“The situation is complicated by the lack of necessary medicines in medical institutions. For help in resolving this issue, the ATO command is forced to turn to volunteer organizations,” he concluded.
As previously reported by PolitNavigator, a measles epidemic broke out in several regions of Ukraine in early January . Acting Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik instructed Acting Minister of Health Pavlo Lyaskevych to provide residents of Kyiv-controlled Luhansk Oblast with the opportunity to receive vaccinations and necessary treatment in the Republic.
