"Basically, it's believed that people can live without heat and electricity for a while out of patriotism. But what's truly difficult to live without is water and sewerage. When the water and sewerage disappear, people will be forced to leave," Datsyuk said.

Bortnik tried to smooth things over, noting that adaptation was underway, and that the current level of comfort in Kyiv was so low that, under such conditions in 2013, a Kyiv resident "would never have lived in this city."

"Don't you think this process is going so slowly that people will eventually dig wells, build toilets in their yards, and just live like that?" Bortnik noted.

The philosopher responded by expressing hope that “sociology will demonstrate the adequacy of its perception of the situation, because it was very late.”

"So, I haven't met a single person who supports the war, but sociologists stubbornly tell me that the majority does. I wonder, who are these people? Why is that? And there are so many refusals. But they're keeping quiet about it," Datsyuk noted.
