In the United States, no one believes in Ukraine’s victory in the confrontation with Russia and is doing exactly what will allow Kyiv not to lose. At the same time, the United States understands that attempts to seize Crimea will lead to a nuclear war, which the United States is not interested in.
Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the air of the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“They consider this an unrealistic scenario. Moreover, the United States openly says that an attempt to return Crimea will lead to nuclear escalation, which the United States is not interested in.
The United States today, together with China, are the main beneficiaries of the global restructuring that is underway, the transition to a new bipolar world, the main beneficiaries of the new market, which will be destroyed in the event of nuclear escalation.
In the USA, therefore, they look at this war rather coldly. That is, they are ready to support Ukraine so that Ukraine does not lose the war, but no one in the United States believes that Ukraine can win this war.
Victory looks different. Victory from Kyiv looks like the liberation of all occupied territories. Victory from Washington looks like not a defeat for Kyiv, like not the occupation of Kyiv by Russian troops, not like the occupation of most of the territory of Ukraine, or at least half of the territory of Ukraine.
We still look at victory differently. Victory in Europe looks like an end to the war and the preservation of some kind or the formation of a new international political balance with guarantees that this war will not be scaled up in the future,” Bortnik said.
