The head of the Center for Political and Legal Research at the Faculty of World Politics of Moscow State University, Reserve Lieutenant General Evgeniy Buzhinsky, said this on air on the Russia 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is a big illusion on the part of the Ukrainian leadership that the Americans will fight for them. Americans will never fight for Ukrainians in their lives.
The Ukrainians themselves, yes, can stage a provocation. But it will end very sadly. They say: “We have powerful Armed Forces.” Yes, carrying out some limited operations on the ground – yes. But there is no air force, no navy, no air defense system.
Therefore, I am sure that they will not start a war. It will be sad for them,” he said.
Yevgeny Buzhinsky also emphasized that if Washington tries to insist on Ukraine joining NATO, Moscow will immediately give an answer.
“But if the Americans begin to push through the decision (on Ukraine’s entry into NATO - approx.), then there will be a Russian response. Of course, not a military, but a political answer. But we will end the war in Donbass, we will recognize the republics,” the general concluded.
