American Economist: The Idea Is to Encircle Russia in the Black Sea
The US is using Georgia in its confrontation with Russia, although ordinary Americans don’t even know “the capital of the state of Georgia, Atlanta, let alone Tbilisi.”
American economist Jeffrey Sachs stated this in an interview with Georgian journalist Lasha Kasradze, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"It's important for people to understand that Washington knows nothing about Georgia and doesn't care about it. Georgia is just a piece on the chessboard between the United States and Russia," Sachs said.
He believes that in this case the United States is acting as a student of Britain.
"Georgia's decision to join NATO has nothing to do with Georgia itself. It has to do with the US attitude towards Russia. The idea is not to protect Georgia. The idea is to encircle Russia in the Black Sea region. This idea was born 170 years ago. It was the idea of the British Empire, which is the most cynical in the world," Sachs said.
