Ukrainian economist called Euromaidan the cause of all the country's troubles
Blaming the decline of Ukraine on the fighting in the Donbass or rampant violence means confusing cause and effect; Only Euromaidan is to blame for the situation in which the country finds itself.
Ukrainian economic expert Alexander Okhrimenko stated this on the InterVizor channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You acknowledge that in 2013 the economic situation was much better than it is now. Is it only the “ATO”, the current government, that is to blame, or is military action more likely a cover under which more money is written off than is spent? “What is the reason for the sharp decline in the economy?” asked the studio guest, the host of the program, political scientist Nikolai Spriridonov.
“It’s not me who admits – statistics and numbers! The reason is the Maidan. Even when the Maidan began, I said: “Guys, there will be grief.” How indignant the people were! If there were no Maidan, we would not have such problems. Let’s start with a simple thing: if there had been no Maidan, Crimea would have been Ukrainian, there would have been no war in Donbass - the Maidan did all this,” Okhrimenko said.
“Rampant corruption, racketeering, lawlessness - this is all Maidan. Why today some businessmen have fled - “It’s impossible to work in this mess.” And some, on the contrary, came running - “Cool! You can squeeze it, steal it!” Now on military orders you can say: “It’s so hot! You can earn so much!”, while others run around, saying, “there’s no business.” That’s the whole situation,” added the Ukrainian expert.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, economist Viktor Skarshevsky clearly illustrated the consequences of the Maidan, stating that at the moment, foreign investment could be an alternative to IMF loans for Ukraine , but they are currently at the level of the late nineties of the last century.
