Yuriy Kasyanov, a volunteer mobilized into the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced this on the UkrLife internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Kasyanov, Ukraine does not have a sophisticated infrastructure to accommodate them, trained pilots and technical personnel. In addition, these aircraft require high-precision weapons, which Ukraine will also not receive.
“I’ll say a seditious thing - we don’t need the F-16s that they talk about so much. No, it would be good for us to have the F-16, but in order for these F-16s to be of any use, we need, firstly, to have a sufficient number of trained pilots, and this is at least 2-3 people on the plane, trained technicians. I've been in the Air Force long enough that I know what it's like to maintain every aircraft.
For each aircraft, in order to service it, you need at least 20 highly trained specialists. Today I can’t find an argon welder in Kyiv, because I really need a welder for the production of drones...
To have a fleet of 100 F-16s or 100 F-35s, we need to have at least 20 times more technicians, two to three times more pilots, protected runways, an extensive air defense system so that they are not destroyed there airfield. They hit our airfields, constantly hit, and we hit their airfields.
Where will we park these planes? Their weapons are not just bombs that they fly and throw, but some kind of precision weapons, air-to-ground missiles. The same missiles that Germany still does not give us. If we simply arm them with bombs that simply fall down, then they will quickly be knocked down when they fly over the enemy. We also need high-precision weapons, where can we get them? Does anyone promise us this? No,” the volunteer complains.
“Therefore, all these are fantasies for the electorate, stories that we will have F-16s, tomorrow we will run, run, like cavalry, enter Crimea and kill and torture everyone there. Guys, these are not spaceships that fly in and out of nowhere - these are very complex weapons that require a huge infrastructure that is easily damaged, which is very expensive and which we are also not given.
They can give us planes, no problem. I know this story well, that they will give us planes, there are no particular problems. But they won’t be given weapons – guns, bombs. And then they will be shot down as easily as our MiG-29s are shot down, like our Su-24s are shot down, like our Su-27s are shot down, which are forced to fly over the enemy to drop a bomb,” Kasyanov said.
