“In Mariupol, occupied by Ukrainian troops, on May 4, the first training session took place with a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces sappers, who will train Ukrainian marines in installing seaborne anti-landing mines. As you know, the landing in Mariupol or somewhere near this port city of the mythical “Russian naval landing” remains an obsessive fear of the Kyiv authorities and the Ukrainian military command.
Classes in marine mining include a theoretical course and practice in the coastal zone of the Azov Sea. 10 people were selected for the training group from various sapper units of the Ukrainian army stationed in Mariupol. The entire cycle of classes will be conducted by a foreign instructor speaking English, together with an assigned translator.
Sea antilanding mines are installed near the shore, at a depth of 1,0 to 1,5 meters, on special anchor devices. If the landing craft touches the device, the mine should explode.
It is also known that on May 4, an army Ford Transit truck also arrived at the location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit, where the training of sappers to install seaborne anti-landing mines began. Several closed boxes were unloaded from its body, in which, apparently, there are mines that will be necessary during practical training at sea and subsequent mining of the Azov Sea,” reports Kharkova.
