Valeria Gontareva herself reported this in an interview with HUBs.
“It was my eldest son’s deposit. His grandfather bequeathed an apartment to him, he sold it and put the money he received - 800 hryvnia - on deposit in Delta Bank for a year. The year ended when the bank no longer returned deposits, so he never took it back. The Deposit Guarantee Fund will pay him 000 hryvnia - the rest will be lost,” Gontareva said.
According to her, her son did not ask for help getting this deposit out of the bank through his mother’s friend, the owner of the bank, Nikolai Lagun.
Regarding her own savings, Gontareva said that she keeps them in the state-owned Ukreximbank, and previously also used Universalbank.
As PolitNavigator reported, Gontareva declared income for 2014 in the amount of UAH 26,288 million.
Gontareva's son's half-million-hryvnia deposit at Delta Bank burned up.
