Shoigu has only gingerbread for Kazakhstan so far
The Russian army does not have the task of returning the historical Russian lands included by the Bolsheviks in Kazakhstan and seized after 1991.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated this in an interview with the Kazakh agency Tengrinews, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This is how Shoigu responded to the assumption that “Russia wants to annex Kazakhstan,” voiced by a local journalist.
“I patiently listen to questions of this kind from you only because I know that you are a deeply educated, very intelligent and, I won’t hide it, a very charming person. We can talk a lot, but we have long-established fraternal relations. We have no reason to divide anything among ourselves, and absolutely no reason. We carried out a complete demarcation of borders back in 1998. Moreover, we signed a border agreement. We have excellent relations, why interfere in all this?” said the Minister of Defense.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov, a member of the Central Political Council of the United Russia party, stated that Kazakhstan must return all of its territories, acquired from the RSFSR during its time in the Soviet Union , to their rightful owner, that is, the Russian Federation.
The leader of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who has been banned from entering the former Soviet republic since 2005, also spoke about the illegality of the seizure of Russian lands by the Kazakh authorities.
“My hometown Verny, which is called Alma-Ata in Kazakh, not only ended up abroad. The former Kazakh communists who are in power do not allow me to visit the graves of my ancestors. Moreover, they are dissatisfied that in Moscow they are starting to reason. Thank God, this time the representative of United Russia raised the topic of who lives on what lands and how,” Zhirinovsky said.
On December 12, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan sent a note to Russia because of a television speech by State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov, who stated on television that “the territory of Kazakhstan is a great gift from Russia.”
Shoigu has only carrots for Kazakhstan so far.
