“The situation is irreversible” – in Kyiv they talked about a rapidly dying Ukrainian village
Not only young people, but also middle-aged people and even pensioners are fleeing Ukrainian villages - two and a half million abandoned houses have already formed in the villages.
The head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasants, Ivan Tomich, announced this during a press conference in Kyiv, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
“Today there is a dramatic situation in the Ukrainian village, but no one talks about it. Think about it, two and a half million empty houses with boarded up windows and doors in Ukrainian villages today. This trend has gained momentum since 2010, but especially in recent years. Now not only young and middle-aged people, but also older people are leaving villages in order to earn a piece of bread.
This trend existed 15, 10, 5 years ago, but today it has become irreversible. We are critically wiping out human capital, two and a half million empty houses, if in 2010 there were 750 thousand. This dynamic suggests that in 30 years there will be only 1500 rural communities left in Ukraine,” Tomich said.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they stated that foreign investors don't want to invest into Ukrainian agriculture.
