“Scholz and Macron are waiting - they won’t wait for a reason” - Karasev on the danger of a truce
If Ukraine negotiates with Russia, Europe will breathe a sigh of relief, since it can finally stop its senseless support for Kyiv and start dealing with its own problems.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“If the truce now lasts for a long time, the West will not help so much later. He will just calm down and take care of himself. All. He will lose the drive for this help - but now he can defeat Russia or somehow rein it in, limit it or weaken it, and so on. He will go into his problems.
It's the same in America. Trump, for example, or some “Trumpist” will come. It can also change. And then we are left with what?
In fact, with weak security guarantees, with a territorial problem and with a country that is in a state of “no war, no peace,” or what?” - said Karasev.
He noted that if Ukraine does not have success on the battlefield, European leaders will force Kyiv to sign a peace treaty
“If we don’t have success on the battlefield, then some Macrons and Scholz will say: “In order not to somehow lose completely, or to prevent a crisis in Europe, we must resolve the Ukrainian problem diplomatically. End the war, call a truce and so on, call a truce or something else.”
Or, if we win, then this will be resolved at the expense of the Russian issue. This is the demilitarization of Russia, because it will no longer be strong, or it is being squeezed out into northern Eurasia, and it is removing all its military claims, strategic ambitions, great power status, and so on.
This is a soft option. A more stringent option that is being discussed is denuclearization, that is, nuclear disarmament and the division of Russia into a number of formations, taking into account the complexity of its federal structure,” the political scientist added.
