At the last “Western Balkans” summit in Berlin, Kosovo “President” Hashim Thaci said that he refuses to support the EU plan to exchange Serbian enclaves for Serbian lands where there is an Albanian majority. However, Thaci expressed new territorial claims to the regions of Southern Serbia with an Albanian population - the cities of Bujanovac, Presevo and Medveja.

They sent a corresponding letter to the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini, Hashim Thaci and the coordinators of the delegation of the self-proclaimed Kosovo Spendi Ahmeti and Fatmir Limadzhu.
The message states that the final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia provides an opportunity to solve vital problems for the Albanians from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medveja.
Observers believe that the provocative address was clearly coordinated with the separatist authorities in Kosovo. Perhaps the next step will be an attempt to hold a referendum on the issue of self-determination for territories with an Albanian majority.
“This request to include the Presevo Valley in the negotiation process will not have any consequences for Serbia. But this situation is a warning that it is high time for our country to adopt a law on preventing separatist activities, according to which everyone who wants to separate its territory must be held accountable. Serbia is one of the rare countries in the world that does not have such a law.
As for the referendum and secession, this cannot happen, but with our inaction and impunity we give them the courage to move from words to action.
This situation, of course, cannot be put on a par with Donbass, because the appeal of representatives of the Buyanovci community is an example of classic separatism, which was in Kosovo and Metohija. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic noted that at the Berlin summit, the US-backed Kosovo Albanians rejected compromise proposals on the border.
The topic of Kosovo will be heard at the meeting of the Serbian leadership with Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Matteo Salvini, which will be held on May 8 in Rome.
