Sevastopol, August 13 (Navigator, Viktor Orlov, Yuri Kovalchuk) - The “Russian bloc”, which played a decisive role during the Third Defense of Sevastopol, will take part in the elections to the legislative assembly in September 2014. Since the party is not yet registered in the Russian Federation, the “Russian Bloc” team will run under the “Union of Citizens” brand.

“Since the “Russian Bloc” as a political structure has not yet been registered in Russia, we are going to the elections under the name “Union of Citizens.” This is what will be on the ballot. In other words, in the elections the “Russian Bloc” party is the “Union of Citizens,” he said.

According to the politician, now the main task is “to make political changemakers - in the recent past, mediocre Ukrainian officials who strive to remain in power - become a thing of the past.”

“More than 5 months have passed since the long-awaited reunification of the Crimean Peninsula with Russia. However, many vices that should have sunk into oblivion along with dependence on the Kyiv authorities still darken our existence. Corruption, bureaucracy and irresponsibility of power structures not only have not disappeared, but have also acquired a new threatening character. Apparently, the renewed government of Sevastopol has not fully realized all the problems of the transition period, the solution of which requires the uncompromising destruction of a system that has been established for 23 years, built on bribery and manipulation,” Basov said.

“The problem with the authorities is that they are not ready for a radical change in management methods, as well as for working in conditions of constant dialogue with the population,” added the leader of the Russian Bloc.

“Even before February 23, when, probably, everyone had already realized that Crimea had no future as part of Ukraine, which had submitted to the Maidan, we took up organizing self-defense. It was the “Russian Bloc” that was at the forefront of the events that soon led to the referendum and further reunification with the Russian Federation. But at that moment we were much more concerned about the safety of the population than political issues. Unfortunately, there were many old-school politicians who hastened to change their political orientation in order to retain their powers. As time has shown, we returned to Russia, we avoided the difficult fate of Donbass. However, it was not possible to completely update the power structures and make them effective - taking advantage of the difficult situation, too many people got into these structures without any reason to do so.

When the Russian Bloc party tried to explain the inconsistency of individual decisions, they simply waved us aside. Now there is a backlash. We have repeatedly said: “Sevastopol does not need both a governor and a government chairman.” We said: “The governor must be responsible for everything that happens in the city, including the government.” And only six months later the prosecutor’s office was able to discover the corruption of this clause and it was canceled. Not to mention how many unfair decisions were made that were harmful to Sevastopol.

We are talking about a living wage adopted at a level that is several times lower than in other regions of Russia. About the election of the governor, who in Sevastopol for some reason is chosen by deputies, and not by the Sevastopol residents themselves, as happens in Moscow and St. Petersburg. About thoughtless taxes that can completely strangle small businesses and much more,” says Basov.

“The whole problem is that today’s government is trying to play dark.” Our people don't know what's going on in city government. Often, after the fact, they simply announce in the media loyal to the authorities that this or that event took place in the city. Not to mention where and how our funds are spent, how land and city property are used.

It comes to the point that only the press loyal to individual officials is invited to press conferences, while other publications wait months for accreditation to no avail. Our budget receives large sums aimed at improving the city, improving the social situation and other areas that are important for every Sevastopol resident. But these funds simply dissolve. Ask yourself the question: “do you know anything about this?” The situation in Sevastopol is gradually heating up. Various scams, queues, increased unemployment, rising prices, corruption, dominance of shifters and unprofessional visiting bureaucrats. After all, it is not the president or the Russian government that is to blame for all this, but local officials,” the deputy noted.

“The future of the city, of course, will depend on the election results. The votes of voters will determine whether Sevastopol will receive the old government - corrupt, worthless, sitting on the shoulders of the citizens all their lives, or whether it will vote for new faces - the team of the “Russian Bloc” - “Union of Citizens,” Basov concluded.
