“They are calling for denazification”: Bulgarian Russophiles were declared a threat to national security
The use of the term “Nazism,” which many characterize the current Bulgarian authorities, is allegedly a threat to the country’s national security.
Kalin Yanakiev, a professor of history at the Sofia University of St. Kliment Ohridski, writes about this in an article published by the Bulgarian portal "Culture," according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He is unhappy that Bulgarian Russophiles and opponents of the current government began to call it “Nazi” after the demolition of the monument to the Soviet army and support for the Kyiv regime.
The expert believes that there is an attempt to convince the Russian brothers that Bulgaria, like Ukraine, is experiencing an increasingly urgent need for denazification.
“I ask now: does the recent increased use of the term “Nazism” in our country pose a threat to our national security? Are the assumptions (in the Russian media) that our country needs the same “denazification” as in Ukraine a “national betrayal” (which Vazrazhdane activists are otherwise willing to talk about)? They are calling for Russia to invade the country!” the professor writes.
He appeals to the Bulgarian special services - they say, do not think that I am exaggerating. In supposed confirmation of his theses, the author reports that the Bulgarian historian, former professor at Sofia University Darina Grigorova, published “as many as eight articles” in the Russian media in defense of Russia and criticizing both Ukraine and the “Bulgarian Banderaites.”
“Don’t you see these data about the intensive (and well organized by Russian centers and persons in our country) cooperation between Bulgarian Putinophiles and Russian media? Doesn’t this look like an invitation to a new invasion of the “brothers” into our country?” Yanakiev is indignant.
Let us remind you. that according to a similar scenario, events developed in Ukraine, where monuments to Soviet soldiers are demolished, Bandera’s supporters are being glorified and proponents of friendly relations with Russia are being declared enemies of the nation.
