US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated this during a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is important that relations between Russia and the United States are better. It is important that countries... have more positive relationships. But the issue of Ukraine is getting in the way,” Tillerson told reporters on the sidelines of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers in Vienna.
He also added that the countries may have disagreements in other arenas, such as Syria, "but when one country invades another, that's a disagreement that is difficult to resolve."
“From the very beginning, we clearly told Russia that we need to discuss the issue of Ukraine, for us it is the only and most important obstacle to the normalization of relations with Russia, which we would really like,” the American diplomat added.
