“Trukhanov was fully supported by Governor Igor Palitsa, as well as Yulia Tymoshenko and Igor Kolomoisky. These are the three main people on whom he could rely,” reports Capital, citing an informed source in Petro Poroshenko’s headquarters. According to the publication’s interlocutor, Tymoshenko was persuaded to support Trukhanov, since he was an opponent of Eduard Gurvits, who was part of the circle of Poroshenko’s supporters.
According to the publication’s columnist Natalya Krasnoshchekova, the election of a new mayor “will lead to increased influence in the region of businessman and chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration Igor Kolomoisky, who may have common business interests with Trukhanov.”
Let us note that Governor Igor Palitsa yesterday attended the inauguration of Gennady Trukhanov, where he stated that the elections were fair.
At the same time, Navigator sources confirm that Trukhanov had behind-the-scenes agreements with Tymoshenko.
Let us recall that Trukhanov’s victory over his opponent Gurvits turned out to be crushing: 146022 votes or 43,49% against 107526 votes or 32,02%.
