Any provocations are possible during the presidential elections in Ukraine. Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station.
“The use of weapons seems to be a completely acceptable method for Petro Poroshenko. That is why I think that when the prospects for the 2019 election campaign are discussed, no scenarios can be ruled out. Even the most incredible, absurd, cynical and stupid ones. From the intensification of hostilities in the Donbass, for which, of course, Russia will be blamed, to all sorts of assassination attempts on Poroshenko, if necessary, ratings will be raised,” Mikheev said.
He believes that the Russian leadership is waiting for the results of the Ukrainian elections without taking any active steps, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It is useless to have a dialogue with such people. I have always advocated tougher approaches. It's never too late for a tougher approach. There would be resources and political will. But, as I understand it, our leadership does not understand what to do with this Ukraine. Some evolutionary changes are inevitable. Including during the upcoming elections,” Mikheev said.
