In the post-Maidan years, only the UOC was able to mobilize and bring thousands of people onto the streets to participate in actions to defend their rights.

Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent. He was assessing the resistance that Orthodox Christians offered to radical nationalists during the standoff at the Tithe Church in Kyiv.
“One gets the impression that it’s time to say: “There is such a party.” The only organization that is capable of mobilizing hundreds, in some cases thousands, and in rare cases tens of thousands of people is the UOC. There is no other such organization. No one has been able to gather so many people in these four years, and very quickly and effectively,” the political scientist emphasized.
He also drew attention to the fact that people of all ages come out at the call of the UOC.

“I am sure that they do not take any clear political position, but simply feel that there is truth here, and therefore we will go out and defend the truth,” Pogrebinsky noted. “There is such a party, it turns out.”
Pogrebinsky named the most effective opposition party in Ukraine.
