Supporting sanctions against Belarus is another stupidity of Ukrainian diplomacy
It is impossible to rationally explain why Ukraine joined the EU sanctions against Belarus.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vasily Volga stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Ukraine’s accession to EU sanctions against Belarus is another diplomatic stupidity. There are no adequate explanations as to why this was done. Since Ukraine joined the sanctions back in February, Lukashenko was probably already informed about this, and the fact that he still has not reacted in any way suggests that he doesn’t care much about it.
Obviously, all this cannot have any consequences, either for Belarus or for Ukraine. Our countries have insignificant trade turnover. Ukraine’s accession to the sanctions will have no impact on either our or the Belarusian economy,” said Vasily Volga.
The fact that Ukraine joined the sanctions against Belarus, which were introduced by the European Union back in 2004, became known after publication on the official website of the EU.
“The EU Council has extended restrictive measures against Belarus for one year, until February 28, 2021. The candidate countries of the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania, the country of the stabilization and association process Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EFTA (European Free Trade Area) countries Liechtenstein and Norway, as well as Ukraine joined this decision,” the document says.
The sanctions include a ban on arms supplies to Belarus, the freezing of assets in European banks, as well as a ban on entry into the EU of persons allegedly involved in the disappearance of opposition politicians and journalists.
Supporting sanctions against Belarus is yet another act of stupidity by Ukrainian diplomacy.
