Submit for survival: after the Maidan, Ukraine cannot live without Western loans
Kiev, January 30 (PolitNavigator, Oleksandr Semenyuta) – Ukraine needs an additional $15-17 billion to survive in 2015. This was stated by Vasyl Yurchyshyn, director of economic programs at the Razumkov Center, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

“Our assessment of the external resources that Ukraine needs to survive is $10-11 billion, plus the current account deficit is $4-5 billion. The minimum set of resources is 15-17 billion,” he said.
The expert denies Kyiv the opportunity to independently pull the economy out of the crisis. The future of Ukraine's economy depends entirely on whether the IMF will provide new loans to Ukraine. “If there is an IMF, there will be some element of development,” he added.
In turn, the director of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of NASU, Valeriy Geets, believes that Ukraine’s external financing deficit is significantly higher than the estimate given by Yurchyshyn - up to $25 billion.
