The General Staff held an emergency briefing today, where, as proof, journalists were shown several cartridges and a Russian-made sniper rifle.

“The physical evidence presented here will be used in all investigative actions. It is guarded by special services. The bullets you see are chemical and, unfortunately, they are not produced in Ukraine. There have been cases of previous detentions of Russian military personnel, but, unfortunately, we cannot make them public,” a representative of the presidential office said at a briefing in Kyiv.

In response to repeated requests from journalists to demonstrate more substantial evidence or organize a meeting with Russian prisoners of war, Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko said that there are video recordings of their detention, but for now the Russians will not be shown to anyone. Only OSCE representatives were offered access to the prisoners through the media. But the General Staff has names, unit numbers, locations, etc.

“We have photo and video evidence of this persecution. After certain processing they will be made available to the public. We invite representatives of the OSCE to witness this, to examine the military personnel of the Russian Federation at the Central Clinical Hospital,” Muzhenko said.

At the same time, the General Staff states that they detained the military on May 16. Apparently, the Ukrainian military department did not have enough two days to prepare more material evidence. Advisor to the head of the SBU Markiyan Lubkivsky, who was also present at the briefing, told the press with undisguised irritation that they would ask detailed questions at the trial, and the essence of today’s briefing was “to show everyone Russia’s military aggression.”

“You are not present at a trial right now. We are talking about media coverage and presentation of evidence of military aggression of the Russian Federation. I want to remind you that all these facts are piled up by the SBU and other bodies in order to be transferred to international legal institutions,” Lubkivsky assures.
