The OOS command is seriously concerned about the increasing number of cases of high-profile self-explosions by Ukrainian militants in the area of Shumy.
This was reported by the press service of the People's Militia of the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Our sources at the Joint Forces Operation headquarters have confirmed the death of Lieutenant Colonel Koval, commander of the search and disposal of improvised explosive devices at the 143rd Mine Clearance Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with a mine-explosive device. This information is also confirmed by Ukrainian media.
The group under his leadership carried out the order of the JFO Commander to clarify the maps of minefields in the area of the settlement. Noises in the area of responsibility of the 10th Brigade, due to the identification of a discrepancy between the actual installation of mines on the ground and the data specified in the forms left by the 35th Brigade after leaving on rotation from the Joint Forces Operation zone,” the message says.
At the same time, due to inconsistencies in the reports of the brigade command on the causes of death and injury to the militants, the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak, arrived at the unit to conduct an investigation.
"Khomchak's arrival is connected to multiple incidents of mine explosions in the Shumy area, including a high-profile incident last year involving a group of militants from the 35th Brigade, which included foreign mercenaries ," the press service explained.
In addition, according to sources, the names of two more militants who were blown up, who were part of the engineer-sapper group led by the commander of the detachment of the 143rd demining center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Koval, became known: “these are senior sergeants Abramovich and Barnich.”
“Thus, by distorting the real facts of what happened, the Ukrainian side continues to misinform the public and relatives of the victims in order to remove responsibility for the death of their subordinates and use this incident as a reason for another information provocation,” the DPR NM summed up.
