In turn, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz promised to push through the decision to confiscate Russian assets.
"I'd like to talk about the freezing of Russian assets. First of all, the first decision has already been made: Russian assets will be frozen in Europe for a long time... For a long time!
How can we use these assets to support Ukraine? We'll discuss this this week. And I think we'll agree on this. We have a legal basis—Article 121—which allows for majority voting. Based on this, it's possible to revote on other decisions.
We understand that some countries are opposed, and for this purpose, we have the tool of a qualified majority. This will apply to both the freezing and the use of these assets.
"I understand the doubts of Belgium and other countries, but I don't share them. Our goal is to support Ukraine so that it can continue to defend itself," the fascist promised.
