The cause of the explosions on the territory of the Saki military airfield in Novofedorovka was the detonation of several ammunition.

“On August 9, at about 15.20, on the territory of the Saki airfield near the settlement of Novofedorovka, several aircraft ammunition detonated on a bunded storage area,” the military department reported. – No one was injured as a result of the explosion.
Aviation equipment at the airfield was not damaged. Measures are being taken to extinguish the fire and determine the causes of the explosion. According to the report from the field, there was no fire impact on the bunded ammunition storage area at the airfield.”
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, went to the site.
“I’m on the spot in the village of Novofedorovka. All necessary measures have been strengthened to ensure the safety of infrastructure facilities and the population. First of all, measures have been taken to set up a cordon perimeter in a 5-kilometer zone: fences, traffic police crews and foot patrols in order to prevent injuries to local residents. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is monitoring the fires.
There is a military airfield right behind us. Ambulance and air ambulance teams are working on the spot, there are enough of them. It is too early to talk about casualties. No one among the civilian population has yet turned to medical institutions for help. I urge you to trust only official information.
