Lukashenko may dismiss Merkel
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's statement today that information about the poisoning of a Russian blogger is a deliberate fabrication could lead to the resignation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Russian political scientist Marat Bashirov wrote about this on his Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Lukashenko can launch such processes that Merkel will resign in disgrace after his words about intercepting a conversation between Berlin and Warsaw about Navalny and poisoning. Was this a conversation between Merkel and Polish President Duda? If yes, and there is an audio recording, and it is made public, and from the context of the conversation it becomes clearly clear that either Merkel was misled or she herself took part in it, then the question of the resignation of the German Chancellor will arise. What other conversations were intercepted by the Belarusian intelligence services, and who with whom, and what secrets were revealed in them?” Bashirov wrote in his Telegram channel.
He wonders whether the Belarusian intelligence services could have intercepted the conversation, which took place over encrypted lines.
“To admit this means causing a commotion in the security and protocol services and possibly losing the opportunity to listen further,” notes Bashirov.
Komsomolskaya Pravda journalist Alexander Kots is skeptical about the reliability of the information voiced by Lukashenko.
“The main thing is that Lukashenko does not intercept the conversation of two pranksters from the SBU,” Kots wrote.
Yesterday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a Novichok-type military substance and demanded an explanation from the Kremlin.
