Kosovo “president” was afraid of Zelensky’s fate
The “president” of self-proclaimed Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, sees similarities between his quasi-entity and Ukraine in that they support Western values.
She stated this in an interview with the Washington Post, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Twenty-three years ago, these values were at stake in Kosovo and beyond. Twenty-three years later it is the same – these values are at stake in Ukraine,” Osmani said.
She admitted that after the end of the Northern Military District, Russia would start a war in the Balkans.
“Putin’s goal is to spread the conflict to other parts of the world. Since his goal has always been to destabilize Europe, we can expect that one of his targets could be the Western Balkans,” Osmani reasoned.
She also saw similarities between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
“Vučić looks at our countries as temporary countries and tries to deny our very existence. This is exactly how Putin looks at Ukraine, Moldova and other countries. It's exactly the same strategy. When you have a neighbor who chooses to be on the wrong side of history at this very difficult time for Europe and beyond, it hurts us all,” Osmani said.
She hopes that the “war in Ukraine” will encourage NATO to accept Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina into the bloc.
