Kommersant reported on preparations for a new meeting between Putin and Biden
A meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States may take place in the coming months.
Kommersant reports this, citing sources familiar with the progress of negotiations between Moscow and Washington, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The publication's interlocutors claim that the preliminary schedule of contacts between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden looks like this: an online conversation before the end of this year, and then a personal face-to-face meeting at the beginning of next year.
“The details have not yet been fully agreed upon, and therefore neither the Kremlin nor the White House is in a hurry to disclose the details,” the publication notes.
Among other things, the leaders of the two countries will have to discuss how the agreements they reached at the June summit in Geneva are being implemented.
Yesterday, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov answered a question from journalists on this topic.
“There is an understanding that a meeting is needed, that communication between the two presidents needs to continue. But there are no clear deadlines yet,” Peskov said.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre also told the press that there was “nothing to announce” regarding the meeting.
