The State Duma protected the rights of fish farmers in Crimea
The Russian State Duma today adopted amendments to the Law "On Aquaculture" in its second reading, facilitating fish farming in Crimea and Sevastopol, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Since before the admission of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation, fishing activities in this territory were carried out on the basis of documents issued by another state, now Crimean fisheries cannot prolong their right to use water areas without auctions, as is done throughout Russia. We are eliminating this gap,” explained the speaker, deputy Nikolai Nikolaev.
In Crimea and Sevastopol, the issues of using water bodies for aquaculture purposes before joining Russia were regulated by the fishery exploitation regime. In this regard, now they cannot re-issue documents for their activities. The bill corrects this situation by supplementing the Law “On Aquaculture” with a new norm, according to which fish farms in Crimea and Sevastopol will have the right to conclude an agreement for the use of a water area for a new period without holding auctions or bidding.
