Finland supported piracy against Russian tankers.
Finland supports the seizure of Russian oil tankers and Britain's decision to close the English Channel to sanctioned vessels.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced this at a briefing in Helsinki , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"We've discussed this, and I welcome Prime Minister Starmer's initiative . It's not about tougher language, but tougher measures . And I think we've demonstrated our resolve both in the case of Eagle S ( the Finns detained it in January 2025, but later released it – author's note ) and in the other incident on New Year's Eve.
Similar actions have been taken by Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and now the UK.
"Ceasing funding for the Russian military through the shadow fleet and any action to detain the vessels that support this activity is a very good thing . Therefore, we strongly support Prime Minister Starmer's initiative," Stubb said.
