Former speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: Poroshenko will primarily take into account the interests of the EU and the USA
Kyiv, May 29 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Ukraine, which not so long ago occupied a leading position in arms exports, must work in foreign markets, taking into account the position of the United States and the EU.
Former speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Voloshin stated this at a briefing in Kyiv.

“Arms can only be supplied to those countries about which the United States and the EU will not have questions,” he said.
In his opinion, if Ukraine aspires to be a European country, then when exporting arms it must take into account the corresponding political risks.
“You shouldn’t sell weapons to just anyone, just to sell them, for example, to South Sudan or Syria,” Voloshin explained.
He is confident that the fundamental difference between the position of the current president and the position of previous ones will be that the position of Ukraine’s key partners, i.e. The West will be taken into account first.
Oleg Voloshin recalled the example of some Ukrainian airlines that fell under American sanctions because they carried out transportation to Iran. “Taking into account the fact that business in Ukraine will gradually enter European markets, it is very important to put things in order with the political component,” the expert believes.
According to him, arms exports are now extremely important for Ukraine.
“Some may think that in the context of hostilities in the Donbass, we should be talking not about the export, but about the import of weapons, but this is not so. A significant part of defense production is located in the southeast of Ukraine. Preserving the opportunity for them to export and enter international markets is a matter of preserving jobs for them, eliminating the base for separatists, a destructive force that Russia and local destructive forces are actively using,” says Oleg Voloshin.
