Dzhemilev got lost in search of a place for his own grave
The former leader of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, banned in Russia, Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, is prohibited from entering the territory of Russian Crimea - whether alive or dead.
Dzhemilev spoke about this in an interview with Suspilny, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“When I left, it was April 19, 2014, this was for a session of the Verkhovna Rada, I went there weekly, they read a decree to me at the border, which said that, on the basis of some paragraph of the Russian Migration Service, I was prohibited from entering the territory of the Russian Federation for a period of 5 years, that is, until 19,” Dzhemilev recalled.
He replied that he was not going to the Russian Federation, but they reminded him: “Crimea is also Russia.”
“I remember telling them then that you are very big optimists if you think that you will be here before 19. I thought so then,” the Mejlis member admitted his miscalculation.
Then, through a lawyer, he learned that in 2019 a new decree was issued banning him from entering for another 15 years, that is, until 2034.
“It is clear that until 2034, neither I nor Putin will be in this world anymore. But there is such a trick here that in accordance with these Russian rules, they were also under the Soviet regime, that people who are prohibited from entering the territory are not allowed to enter the territory even after death. That is, if I die, they do not give permission to bury me in Crimea.
And I really want to die on my own land and be buried there, so I have to hurry. I’m already on the threshold of my life’s journey,” Dzhemilev complained.
