Even the West does not believe in a successful operation to seize Crimea.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the air of the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Karasev, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to pass through the bare steppes to the peninsula and overcome obstacles.
“How can we de-occupy it now? This needs to be cut - go to Melitopol, and then go south. Next we need to bomb the Crimean Bridge or blow it up. For this you need long-range missiles. Then you must go overland through Sivash. There's a steppe there! How will you cross the bare steppe? It’s easy to say, but if you take the military operational situation and look at the map, then any military man will say that it’s not so simple,” the expert said.
“Probably, the General Staff has an operation plan, but there is no certainty - and many in the West are not sure that Crimea can now be liberated as part of some kind of lightning-fast, quick counter-offensive operation. Jake Sullivan was asked recently, he said that Crimea is a problem of the future, not the near future,” Karasev said.
