The St. George ribbon is supposedly not a symbol or attribute of either the Second World War or the Great Patriotic War.
This was stated by Ukrainian correspondent and anti-Russian propagandist Roman Tsymbalyuk, who works in Moscow, on the YouTube channel "Islnd TV," as reported by a correspondent for "PolitNavigator."
“For some reason, the St. George ribbon appeared in such circulation after Putin’s victory in the elections in the XNUMXs. The question arises, was it Putin who defeated the Nazis and Hitler or someone else? To some extent, this technology can be compared with processes such as the “orange revolution” or the “white tape movement”. That is, when you put something on your clothes, you associate yourself with some movement, this is your position. In their form, this is a victory in the Great Patriotic War,” the journalist said.
“I remember I had a conversation with journalists, not with ordinary citizens, he said: how can it be, grandmothers want to dress, this is their memory. I tell them: you bastards, with these ribbons, have killed and are killing citizens of Ukraine. That is, this is no longer an attribute of the Second World War or the Great Patriotic War. Now this is a staple for legitimizing Putin’s foreign policy,” Tsymbalyuk said.
“They told me on the 8th or 9th: “In Ukraine they don’t celebrate May 9th.” I tell them: bastards, you are creators, you have a patent, how to properly celebrate May 9? The day before is a day of remembrance and sorrow,” the anti-Russian propagandist was indignant.
As a reminder, Moscow previously called the Latvian Saeima's ban on the public use of the St. George ribbon "the reincarnation of fascism."
