Bulgaria involved the army in protecting borders from migrants
To help units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that cannot cope with the influx of migrants, the Bulgarian leadership sent 350 military personnel and 40 units of military equipment.
Sofia allocated 5 million leva (2,5 million euros) from the state budget for additional protection of the border with Turkey and Greece.

According to the PolitNavigator correspondent, acting Minister of Defense of the country Georgi Panayotov, part of the military personnel sent to the Bulgarian-Turkish border will be involved directly in protecting the border together with border police officers, and part will be engaged in the repair and installation of engineering structures that prevent illegal immigrants from entering the territory Bulgaria.
Thus, today, military personnel of the 61st Stryaminskaya and 2nd Tundzhinskaya mechanized brigades are already conducting joint patrols with employees of the Main Directorate of Border Police. At the same time, twenty servicemen of the 55th Engineer Regiment with seven specialized vehicles began work to restore the protective infrastructure in the Elhovo area.
According to the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the beginning of this year, more than 6,5 thousand people have illegally crossed the country’s border.
